Designer Spotlight: Norton Point

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

One of my favorite things to do on this blog is support local businesses and companies based in New England through my Local Stops and Designer Spotlight series. Today I am bringing you Norton Point, a Martha's Vineyard based company that makes sunglasses and accessories. They are named for the 2.5 mile long strip of sand and dunes that connect Martha's Vineyard and the island of Chappaquiddick. Norton Point is extremely passionate about giving back and cleaning up our oceans. They have designed the first line of sustainable eyewear made from recovered ocean plastics. Even the eyewear that isn't made from recycled plastics go to help the cause, Norton Point donates 5% of their net profits to global clean-up, education, and mediation practices. They recently started a Kickstarter where you can learn more and help fund their recycled ocean plastic sunglasses. The designs look great! I'm loving the blue mirrored lenses.

Their handmade frames are classic, simple, and timeless. And, they are perfect for both men and women alike. You may have seen me wearing my red pair here on the blog, or over on my Instagram. The frames are very light weight but sturdy. They have the coordinates for Norton Point on the side, which is a really nice touch. The lenses are polarized and provide 100% UVA/UVB protection. I'm definitely in the market for my next pair, which will probably be one of the frames in the tortoise shell. Let me know which pair is your favorite down in the comments!
