If you've never been to a polo match, you're missing out. Even if you have no idea how the sport is played, I promise you will have a great time. The game itself is both elegant and fiercely powerful. However, everyone knows that the match itself is only half the fun. In addition to the match, it is a social event with great food and drinks. The women get dressed up in pretty summer dresses and hats, the men are dressed like dapper gentlemen in summer suits, sports-coats, and blazers. Even the dogs take part and get dressed up. I drove down on Sunday for the Butler Handicap. It was a bit hot and humid but absolutely perfect in the shade with a little breeze. There was wine tastings and food trucks, car test drives and raffles. They even have an official "After Party" hosted by the JHouse every Sunday after the awards ceremony. I couldn't make it this time because I had the dog with me but I'm hoping to drop in next time and check it out.
You can see the schedule and purchase tickets for the rest of the polo season on the Greenwich Polo Club website here.
