Weekend Recap

Well it's finally May and we had our first beautiful weekend of the season! Saturday was pretty low key for me. I spent some time with family, watched the Kentucky Derby, and went to bed early. Sunday I woke up early to take a class at Sur La Table with my mom called Mother's Day Macarons. We made three different kinds of french macarons and fillings. This was our third time making them from scratch so it was good to get solidification we were doing things right and perfect a technique so we can start experimenting with different flavor combinations. We had a lot of fun and met some really great people. This was our second time taking a cooking class there (the first time we went we took a sushi class). They offer a ton of different classes from thai food to pies. You can check out other classes Sur La Table offers and find one near you here.

I had to share this picture of Penny Lane from this weekend, she just looked so happy out on her walk!

  1. Your macarons turned out so well! I've been wanting to take a class at Sur la Table for a while now. I need to just commit to one. I always hear such great things about them.

  2. Our nearest Sur la Table is over an hour away, but by the looks of your macarons-I need to get over it and sign up for a class. That would be such a fun date night idea!

  4. I've always wanted to try making macarons, but I'm terrified! I think I'll just stick to trying to perfect that apple cake recipe I've been working on for months now.

    1. If you have a food scale and you can make meringue then you can do it! It's really not that hard!
