Last Friday I went to Raven Hollow Winery, a local place in town. They offer wine tastings, sell wine and miscellaneous products, and have live music outside. Having just opened up in July, their current wine selection includes apple, strawberry (their most popular), blueberry, pineapple, chardonnay, merlot, and petit verdot. Whenever they can they use local fruits for the wine. However the grape juice comes from Nappa Valley, California. Tastings are $7 and you can choose 4 wines to try or you can spend $10 to try them all. The wine tasting comes with a complementary wine glass. The name comes from the Kosinkski's who own the winery. Their name in polish means "one who lives near ravens".
My favorites were the apple wine and the merlot although I did like them all. The fruit wines were all sweet but drinkable and refreshing. I was surprised I enjoyed them as much as I did because I'm not generally a fan of sweet wines.
Raven Hollow Winery is open Friday 4-8 pm, Saturday1-8 pm, and Sunday 1-6 pm. They offer live music in the "wine garden" every night. Fridays are acoustic covers by Harry Rock, Saturdays are various bands and styles, and Sundays are jazz. You can find them at 420 Russellville Road in Westfield, Massachusetts and on Facebook here.
