Healthy Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

If you're following me on Twitter you may have seen my tweet about what's really in a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks. If you haven't you can read the article here. I haven't had a Pumpkin Spice Latte for a couple of years mostly because I don't like to drink soy milk and I don't like to drink dairy milk and Starbucks won't offer another option despite the amount of people demanding it. Now that more people are becoming aware of what is really in their food and drinks I thought I would share my recipe to get my pumpkin spice fix during the fall without all the junk. I hope you enjoy!

Healthy Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 frozen banana
1 cup of unsweentened almond milk (original or vanilla)
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 tablespoon coconut sugar
Pumpkin pie spice to taste
Maple syrup to taste

Directions:
1. Add almond milk + frozen banana to blender and blend until there are no big chunks of banana.
2. Add pumpkin puree, coconut sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and a drizzle of maple syrup + blend.
3. Sample it and adjust to taste.
4. Enjoy!

    1. I would highly recommend buying some coconut sugar even if you don't make this smoothie. It's an unrefined sugar and still contains nutrients and minerals unlike white sugar. It also has a much lower glycemic index!

  18. This sounds amazing. I love Pumpkin spices, but I'm not a fan of the lattes that Starbucks is famous for. The smoothie version sounds so much more appealing.
